Legal Question in Business Law in Canada
Making money off Video Game Systems
Do I have the right to purchase say 10 video game systems and charge people to play on them? Even though the systems are my property I noticed that on the back of the box there is the following message: "The export , commercial use, or leasing of this product are prohibited. Business use and rental prohibited". What is this refering to because I know stores like Block Buster do rent out systems. Would I have to get a license if any at all?

I don't see how such prohibitions are enforceable against a purchaser of a game console; however, you should probably hire counsel to evaluate the risk before you build a business around this project.
