Re: Return the money back?
If you make a gift of money, intending at the time that it be a gift, and the donee takes (accepts) the gift, the right to the money passes to the donee and the gift is completed. At that point you have no right to take the money back.
This assumes that there was no fraud. If you gave money to someone because they falsely represented to you that they were a tax-exempt charity, for example, and you later found out that they lied to you, the fraud voids the gift and the money is still yours. Of course, getting it back may be difficult!
