Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Canada
Billing Period Allowed to invoice for renovation work
We completed a home renovation project in 2006. Our painter had quoted $4900 for his work. The painter last did some work for us in Feb/06. Upon completion of his work I paid him another $1000 (for a total of $4000). He indicated that he had a number of additional charges at this time to which I indicated I would need to see the details on each extra. He left and made no contact with us until June 2007 at which time he indicated we owed him $2000. My question is: Is there a time limit on how long a contractor has to render his final bill? Am I legally required to pay any amount? I plan to pay some but I am also disputing a number of his extra charges?
