Cheque on closed account

I have a client who gave me a series of cheques to cover debt. The first few went through Ok but the most recent has been returne ''account closed'' We subsequently reached an agrement to cover, but have not received promised funds. Can he be charged with passing bad cheques?

By and large a providing a post-dated cheque that is subsequently dishonoured is not a criminal offence. You should not be concerned about criminal charges anyway as that process is unlikely to result in you being paid. You should sue in the appropriate Court - if the amount is small the Small Claims division of the Provincial Court of British Columbia, and if large, then the Supreme Court Of British Columbia.
