Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Canada
Power of Sale
If I owe a company a small amt. of money, can they go P.O.S. on my home in Ontario, Canada?
This sounds insane although they say they will get a judgement and do this. Amt. is approx $2300(bogus claim by them). House is free and clear.

Re: Power of Sale
The only time a creditor can enforce a claim to a debt in that manner is once they have a court order to do so.
At this point, a collection agency can 1. destroy your credit by posting the alleged debt on your credit report (even if you claim it's bogus) or 2. sue you.
It's actually better if they sue you. That way you can at least go in front of a judge and make your case on why you don't owe the money.
Collection agencies make a lot of ridiculous claims in an attempt to collect money.
