Legal Question in Criminal Law in Canada
Automobile
My son has been charged with mischief for kicking in a car door and has offered to pay for damages. Does he have choice of auto repair shops or does the other party. As this person has gone to dealerships for repair estimates. (very expensive in our opinion) Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Automobile
There is no rule on who has to do the repairs; it is a matter of negotiation between accused and complainant, best conducted through counsel. I am in the middle of a similar matter now and am controlling repair costs.
The main point is to try and get the mischief charge withdrawn if possible.
