Legal Question in Criminal Law in Canada

I borrowed my friends Cadillac escalade that she bought the day before and was pulled over because they said they believed it was stolen and they towed it away. Can they do that? Don't they have to have some kind of warrant? I was left on the side of the road with my belongings. They looked the truck over and said they were were going to have some special investigators inspect it. I asked if my friend would get it back if it's not stolen and they just laughed and said it's most likely stolen so my friend wouldn't be getting it back. My friend is scared to contact the police to even inquire about the vehicle because she is afraid she may be charged with possession. The police have since called me asking to talk to her but she wont return their call.

Your narrative strongly suggests that the supposed purchase and sale of this car wasn't proper. Your friend loans you this Cadi only a day after she buys it and now she is afraid to talk to the police.

Your friend should be getting advice from a criminal lawyer.
