Legal Question in Criminal Law in Canada
Treatment for drugs
My boyfriend is needing help in gettng treatment for his drug addiction rather than jail time as it is not benefiting him as the drug is where all his crimes stem from. My question is ''In the criminal code book does it state anywhere that he has the right to obtain treatment if needed and that the courts must grant this is not been used as a tool to reestablish his life with me and his daughter and to be able to function in our society again. The prisions do not help with this and he needs and is asking for help now but I need to obtain something that shows he deserves to be granted treatment by the courts.

Re: Treatment for drugs
If he is out of custody, he should get into treatment asap. If he is in custody, he should get a good lawyer.
