Legal Question in Family Law in Canada

Absent father

The father move to Canada 1997, no name on daughters birth certificate, father disappeared, couldnt be traced as family covered for him. If I get a private detective or some other means and find his address in Vancouver could he be made to have a DNA test to prove paternity and could he then be made to put his name on my daughters Birth certificate? I have never received any money from the biological father, it isnt about that but him acknowledging her existance, especially as she is now curious etc. Thank you.

Re: Absent father

If you can trace him to British Columbia, most likely a Court would order a DNA paternity test. The Court might order his name to be on the birth certificate, but that is by no means certain. The Court would in all probability order child supprot to be paid.
