Re: Child Support

We presume "home" where the child has returned is in B.C. There are too many factors you have not provided, so a definite answer is not possible. It depends to a great extent on the type and nature of the relationship that your child has maintained with her father - has she tried her best to maintain a relationship, and if so, what has she doen to maintain the relationship with her father? Has he tried to maintain a relationship, and if so, what efforts has he made? Why is the child now returning to school? Why did she not continue after high school? What sort of education is she pursuing, is it full time or part time, what savings has she got to assist herself with, can she work in the summer and at Christmas to assist herself, what sort of student aid is available and has she applied for it/ The answers to all of these questions are necessary before any sort of opinion can be given. You should make an appointment to see a lawyer - the B.C. Branchof the Canadian Bar Association can provide a referral to a lawyer near you, and the cost is minimal for the first consultation - often the lawyer does not charge for the initial consultation.
