Re: child support
In British Columbia, the question of retroactive child support and even if child support is payable when someone is out of work is very complex and beyond the scope of LawGuru, but some of the questions you must have answers for are:
1. Why is he out of work - is it the industry he is in or can't he hold a job or does he jsut prefer not to work all the tiem?
2. Has child support been requested in the past, and if so when and what happened?
If your fiancee lived with a woman and acted as a father figure to the child for at least a year, he is a parent to the child in British Columbia, and had the right and obligation to pay support and to have access to the child.
You should get as much information as possible and then see a lawyer, as the question is too complex for this on-line forum.
