Legal Question in Family Law in Canada

Common Law arrangements
This questions is for my brother, he has been living with a woman for over 5 years. She has 2 girls. These girls are not my brothers kids. These girls are recieving money from their father. His ex girlfriend has not paid a cent for bills or for any mortgage pmts. My brother has been paying everything and can prove it with cancelled cheques from the bank. His girlfriend only paid for groceries. She has accumulated plenty of debt on her own and was paying her debts with her pay. The mortgage is in my brother's name only. His ex girlfriend has now left and going after my brother for money. What is she entitled to if any. My brother is under a lot of stress and has had cancer in the past and the stress is not good for him. I am looking into helping him with some legal advice. Thank you
