My husband and I are both British. We want to get divorced. He lives in Seattle, WA, USA and I live in B.C. Canada. Where should we get divorced?

Re: Where should we get divorced?

Your citizenship is immaterial for a British Columbia divorce; I can not give you advice with respect to a Washington State divorce as I am not licenced in that State. Provided that you have been a B.C. resident for at least one year and have been actually present in B.C. for 10 months, you may commence divorce proceedings in B.C. As to which jurisdiction will give you the better "deal" on things such as child or spousal support or asset division, you have not provided enough information. Please note that if you have children, it is unlikely either jurisdiction will allow a divorce without proof that adequate provision has been made for the children (measured on an objective standard - not just your say-so or what you and your husband say is appropriate).
