No, the money should not go to the girls. You are in arrears, which means you have not paid the child support you were ordered to pay. Because you defaulted on your court-ordered obligation, your former spouse had to spend more of her money for the support of the children. Your behaviour forced your former spouse to spend money she should not have had to spend. You owe her the money, with interest. As to child support stopping at an earlier age, it continues so long as a child is a "child of the marriage". A "child of the marriage" is someone under the age of majority OR someone over that age, but still dependant because of some reason such as still in University or college, or physically or mentally disabled. Pay your former spouse what yo owe her - the debt is not going to go away.
