Legal Question in Family Law in Canada

Filing for custody of my Canadian son from the United States

I am a canadian citizen with legal US residence. My son was born in Canada and lives there with his father. I agreed to give the father sole custody but kept joint guardianship because my son (6 and a half at the time, 8 now) wanted to live with his dad and was finding the breakup hard. In the past year and a half I have learned that his father is doing drugs, (I actually have email and photographic proof of this.) I have a letter from my son's teacher saying that my son's hygiene is extremely bad and he has not recieved medical attention or counselling even though the school has asked the father for this - and my son missed 57 days of school and was late 40 times - and I have about 150 pages of email correspondence from the my son's dad that prove him irresponsible. How much weight will be put on the fact that I moved countries as opposed to the neglect my son is recieving in his own? Do I have a good shot? I'd love to get more detailed advice and more questions answered as well.
