International Change of Guardianship

What is the process I would have to go through to change the custody of my child to someone in another country? I live in the United States and I want to send my child to Vancouver, Canada.

Re: International Change of Guardianship

You have not given nearly enough information to begin answering this question; it is a complex area of law in any event. Some of the most important factors include the citizenship of the child and of the parents (at the time of the child's birth as well as now), the age of the child, the child's wishes, the health of the child, the child's place of birth, whether or not both parents are acknowledged on the birth certificate, the reason for the change of residence, the ability of wither or both parents to support the child, and many other factors. You should consult a lawyer practicing in British Columbia.
