Legal Question in Family Law in Canada
joint custody
My ex and I have joint custody of our
daughter who is now 12 - we have
been separated since she was 1 and I
have been the sole provided. Her
father lives about 6 hours away, and
he sees her 2-3 times a year. I have
a brilliant job offer in the U.A.E. and
of course wish to take my daughter
with me, and she wishes to go. Her
father is threatening to not sign the
permission letter. What rights do I
have? What should I do?

Re: joint custody
This question is too complex for LawGuru. Part of the answer depends on the wording of the joint custody order. A Court can order that you be allowed to go; conversely if you do not have appropriate evidence the court may not order it. If the father will not sign a consent letter, then your only option is a court order permitting you to go. Please see a lawyer immediately as this in not something that you wuld find easy to do on your own.
