Re: Legal age of moving out, without getting the Police involved
It really has little to do with the police; the legal age for a person to become an adult instead of a minor is 19. We urge people less than 19 years old to see a counsellor with his or her parents BEFORE moving out in order to clarify all of the issues that exist. As a rule of thumb, if a person is old enough to arraange and attend counselling with his/her parents and to work out the issues, then he/she is old enough to make decisions about whether or not to move out, but if he/she will not try and arrange cunsellingand/or will not attend counselling (for ANY reason) then he/she is not mature enough to move out. If the individual is over 16 the police will not generally get involved unless the person is reported as missing and/or is in danger or can't take care of him/her self.
