Legal Question in Family Law in Canada
I live in B.C. My ex is in Alberta. We have been separated for 6 years now. I have been trying to find him to serve him Divorce papers. I have custody of our 2 children and was denied the devorce because I didn't want to remarry ane was on assistance. They wanted me to go after him for support. FME sent me a letter that he has no income so there is not support order to follow up with. What can I do if I can't find him? I just want this to be done. I was told I could just post a notice in the local paper of his last known location.

It is a bit more complex than simply posting a notice, although the court does order advertising in a newspaper in a very particular form as one of the ways to notify a spouse who can't be located of the divorce proceedings. We do not understand your comment that you were denied a divorce because you did not want to remarry; we strongly suggest you retain a lawyer as the process is quite likely too complex to do on your own.
