Legal Question in Family Law in Canada

I live in Ontario, Canada . My x girlfriend's lawyer is asking for my criminal record in family court regarding visitation for our son. I am not happy that this could become common knowledge. Is there any way to not have my criminal record involved.

In British Columbia, a criminal record must normally be produced if it is relevant; the Court will determine if it is or not if you make the appropriate appliction. If the case is in the Provincial Court of British Columbia (Family), then no one can look at the file except the parties and their lawyers; if it is in the Supreme Court of British Columbia, then only the parties and any lawyer can look at the file. Therefore it is not likely that your criminal record can become common knowledge. You should ask the judge to make a specific order that your ex-girlfrined can not look at it, but only her lawyer can. Alternatively ask the court to specifically order that she (or anyone) who sees your reord can not tell anyone about it.
