Living Together Responsibilities
My son (23) is planning on moving in with his girlfriend (26)and her 2 chidren (4 & 2 1/2) from a previous unmarried relationship. She is planning on going back to school and getting a part-time job. My son is employed as a front desk manager at a downtown hotel. What responsibilities could he incur if this relationship does not work out?

Re: Living Together Responsibilities
We assume that your son, girlfriend, and her 2 children all live in British Columbia; as noted on our posting, we give advice ONLY for B.C. If they do not, then this advice is NOT accurate. In B.C., if your son acts as if he is a parental figure, he might well be held to be one. This means he quite possibly would be responsible for the children. For advice that is pertinent to the particular situation and for possible ways in which your son may protect himself, see a lawyer practicing family law.
