Legal Question in Family Law in Canada

Can a minor be independent?

To whom it may concern:

I am turning 18 in December (Canada) and taking the Law program in the fall (ironically enough). I currently reside with my mom (my parents are divorced) in the city where my university is. She has told me that I am not allowed to move out until my first year of law is completed, but I wish to leave now. If I leave, is there any legal action she can take to stop me? (i.e. Is it legal for a 17 year old to live on their own?).

Thank you for your assistance.

It depends to a certain extent on which Province you live in. You have not given enough information for a reply.
