Legal Question in Family Law in Canada

my ex has not paid equalization payments ordered to start in 2005, now is claiming bankruptcy, can i take him back to court to increase spousal support payments, as this will be my only money, he is doing this to defeat payments to me , from a 25 yrs marriage. he will retire after with full pension and benefits, and i will have nothing. A lawyer told me to take him back to court to get judge to perhaps order the equalization payments into spousal and collected by FRO. my ex has done nothing but take me back to court to lower spousal , which was dismissed last year, now doing this, a total misuse of the system. im not sure if i should do this, as i dont have a lawyer

As you have directed this question to a British Colubmia law firm, we presume there is a BC connection. The law varies from Province ot Province. We presume the equalization payments are for support. In BC bankruptcy does not cancel support payments. We do not know what you mean by the term "FRO". You should retain a lawyer.
