Legal Question in Family Law in Canada
parental support
I recently found out that a parent can sue their children for support. My parents are divorced and my mom recieves support payment from my Dad, my dad has just recently lost his job and is now taking her back to court to have his support payment lifted. My mom went to see her lawyer and he has told her that she could go after her children for support. My question is is that true or false?

Re: parental support
In British Columbia a parent is able to ask the Court for an Order for support from his/her children, under the Family Relations Act. This answer is specific to B.C. and the situation may or may not be similar in other Provinces & Territories.
