Legal Question in Family Law in Canada

visiting another country

my girlfriend and I wish to go on vacation to another country, but the father of her child apparently has to give permission to allow the child to go, and unfortunately he cannot be located since he is rarely in the childs life. Is there a way that we can still legally take the child to another country for vacation?

Re: visiting another country

You have directed this query to a British Columbia lawyer, and the question is answered with reference to B.C. In B.C. it is possible to obtain a Court Order dispensing with the need for the father to consent to the child visiting out of the country.
