Legal Question in Immigration Law in Canada
Question about wrongful search for international travel
A friend of mine and I crossed the US to Canada this past weekend. They took our car to search it because they claimed it smelled like marijuana (neither of us smoke). They then took my computer and looked through its files for child pornography. They kept us waiting for a while before reading me my rights and putting me in a cell on suspicion of child pornography. I sat there for about 3 hours before they finally released me, saying that they're just classifying the pictures as ''obscene'' (fine, whatever -- I'm pretty sure they just found pictures of my 21-year old girlfriend who just looks 14) but they kept my laptop for 'further investigation' and plan to keep it for a month. In the meantime, my friend who was sitting out in the lobby waiting patiently was told that he would have to pay for his own cab ride back to his home town in MA, and also informed that if he spoke up against any of the customs people that they would throw him off the Peace Bridge (he had glared at a woman when she said ''He's calling his fucking lawyer'' (referring to me))
I'm unsure of any of the legality of this... could you give me some insight?

This is terrible but I regret I do not handle these type of cases.
