Legal Question in Employment Law in Canada

wrong dismissaly while on probation

I was on probation and my manager mistreated me. He accused me of wrong things in my performance appraisal and I was given 1 month to improve. I gave prove to HR that I didn't miss deadlines and did nothing wrong but she refused to remove anything from my file. After 1 week (before that month ends) my manager told me not to worry he wouldn't fire me. I believe because we were doing a very important project that required that I work 12 hours a day sometimes. The project finished in a month. I was given a performance appraisal that I improved in all areas. However my probation was extended to another 6 months.

After that, I noticed that he wouldn't give me any work or talk to me. Other than ''Is everything is OK'' and I would say OK. I kept busy doing user support. 4 months later I was fired without any explanation. My manager wrote in the letter that ''I have no technical skills and don't understand my job responsibility'' I asked why? The HR said you were not allowed to ask. I will file a grievance with the Union. Do you think that I have rights to take him to the court later? By the way I am certified for the position I was hired to do and also experienced.

Re: wrong dismissaly while on probation

I do not know where you live and work, but if you are in Ontario, and are in a union, you need to file a grievance with the union.
