walking home from the store and a drunk attected my husband who is 61. what can i do for compenson. he was charged with assault

In Ontario, you can sue the person who attacked your husband, however, if he was a drunk or homeless, chances are he will not have any assets.
Your other option is to file a claim with the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board. For more info, please check out: http://www.cicb.gov.on.ca/en/index.htm
