Legal Question in Personal Injury in Canada

loss of finger tip

My husand lost his finger tip on the job due to a faulty door closer at a city housing complex. The city has admitted that the door was faulty. He did not lose any wages but was put on light duty until he could continue his regular job. He cannot do certain things due to the loss of feeling in his right index finger. The insurance adjuster asked him to right down what he thinks the settlement should be but we have no idea what range we should be asking for - any help would be great

Re: loss of finger tip

Question 1: Is this a WSIB matter? Are you trying to settle with WSIB? If this is a WSIB, contact the Office of the Worker Advisor. http://www.owa.gov.on.ca/

If this is not WSIB, you might want to hire a lawyer to represent your husband.

Is your husband right handed? Assuming your husband does not lose any wages, you would be looking at a settlement for pain & suffering only.

It is really hard to say what kind of number you would be looking at, as it depends a lot on the numbness and specific circumstances.
