Legal Question in Personal Injury in Canada
Private trampoline liability
I am the owner of a trampoline. My concern, of course, is liablility if someone were to get injured. What is the best measure I can take to ensure I am protecting myself from being responsible for compensation to an injured party?

I would suggest that you look into getting a personal liability umbrella policy. Umbrella policies give extra cushion to your homeowners insurance policy. If you are involved in a lawsuit and your liability coverage is not enough to cover the claim, having an umbrella policy will help protect you. When you buy a personal liability umbrella policy, you are buying a broader insurance coverage range with higher liability limits. Primary policies generally cover bodily injury and property damage, but with personal liability umbrella policy coverage, you can include personal injury, property damage or bodily injury-which may be caused by you, your pets, or your dependents.
After your liability insurance in your insurance runs out, umbrella polices will kick in. They cover the amount above your homeowners insurance policy, up to the limit you select. Many companies will only issue you an umbrella policy if you have both your car and homeowners insurance with them. The reason that most umbrella policies are so inexpensive is that the policy is just added protection. If you are sued, the bulk of the cost is taken from your homeowners insurance, then the rest falls on the umbrella.
