Legal Question in Personal Injury in Canada

I was sued several years ago for negligence, I let some one drive my car and they crashed it. They didnt have a license. I now owe a large amount of money that I cannot afford to pay, and also am unable to renew my drivers license until I pay off a significant amount, however I may lose my job because of my lack of a license. I was never called into court to defend myself, and was told by lawyers I contacted to leave it to my insurance company. I would like to take the matter to court, and try to get the amount owed lessened considerably, or wiped clean, would it be possible at all?

Without a great deal more information it is impossible to say what you can do; this matter is far too complex for a summary advice website such as LawGuru. Please consider retaining a lawyer to review the case in detail and give you advice.
