In British Columbia, a family has no right to contest the fact that a deceased named an individual as the beneficiary in a life insurance policy. There are many reasons why an individual would nominate a beneficiary, such as to protect a loan given to the deceased; to protect an investment in a business deal; to buy out a partnership interest; to name just a few.
