fee for executor
Can an executor of a will , charge a fee. And if so what percentage is allowed. Thx

Yes an executor can charge a fee unless the will specifically precludes a fee or the will specifies the fee. The fee is usually under 5% of the value of the estate. However family members don't often charge a fee because the fee is taxable income and if the family member is a beneficiary he/she is converting taxpaid proceeds into taxable income. The amount of the fee entitlement differs with the nature of the estate and the time and trouble expended by the executor.
