Legal Question in Discrimination Law in China

Removed from foreign school

Does an American based school have to follow Us laws in China?

a four year old boy was accepted to Shanghai International Community School, in Shanghai China. The school is governed by a non-profit board out of Lansing, Michigan; and possibly gains additional funds by the US government . After two weeks of pre- K the school has expelled him because he has Becker's Muscular Dystrophy. The school said they can not accomodate his needs. When asked what needs- they give no solid answer other than, he can not walk up and down the stairs as well as the other 4yr olds; or he does know as much as other four year olds. The principle, and headmaster are American and she refuses to discuss the matter in further detail.

Re: Removed from foreign school

I would doubt that any American law would apply regarding the situation which you've described and what appears to be essentially a Chinese institution subject to Chinese law irrespective of the American nationalities of the headmaster and principle.
