Legal Question in Family Law in Colombia

Takeing my child out of the country without my wife knowing

My wife has a drug problem and is a stripper.

Itook my child out of the country to remove my child from the situation, but i now fear that when i return to the us i will be in trouble with the law?

I contacted my attorney before i left and he said i would be fine but there is a concern.

My wife does know i am here but when i talk to her on the phone she has said that im going to be in so much trouble for obduction.

How can this be true when it is my own child?

Re: Takeing my child out of the country without my wife knowing

If she has custody, or if the divorce decree prohibits your taking the child from a specific geographical area, she can ask the court to find you in contempt. A fine or even jail time is possible; however, you would argue your actions were necessary to protect the child. It would be up to the judge to decide whether a finding of contempt is appropriate. You will probably want to discuss the specifics of your case with an attorney.
