Legal Question in Appeals and Writs in Colorado

When charged (as an 18 year old) with serving alcohol without checking an ID it is classified as a misdemeanor in Colorado. There was a sting operation at a local restaurant, and a friend of mine was charged with a misdemeanor for this reason. He was told the charges could only be expunged after the age of 25, is this true? If not, is there any way he can push the charges to be expunged?

These charges will affect his college opportunities, job opportunities and many other things. He had a clean record, and is a top twelfth grader with potential for great college athletics... Is there anything that can be done to lessen his charges or should he just pay the fine?

BEFORE anyone enters a guilty plea (which usually happens with the payment of a fine) the charged party can fight the charges. Once that guilty plea is entered, it is usually too late, and all the negative consequences (some of which are listed in your question) will occur. Get counsel.
