Legal Question in Business Law in Colorado
Company didn't pay education reimbursement
My former employer offered education reimbursement for classes/certifications. I rang up about $1,100 and their max was $1,200. I didn't violate the terms of their benefits. However despite submitting the form 6 months prior to my end of contract they kept pushing it off and pushing it off. My contract ended and I left the company without them paying/approving the package. I even sent a couple of emails to my immediate supervisor after I left and he forwarded it up the chain but we didn't hear anything back. I feel cheated out of $1,100 and that there is nothing I can do about it. Do I have grounds to sue them for the money? What type of action should I take next. I have most of the emails and original package that I submitted.

Re: Company didn't pay education reimbursement
Apparently you currently live in Virginia. Why do you believe it relates to Colorado law? Did you live in Colorado THEN? Or were you in Virginia working for a Colorado company? Do they have any offices in Virginia?
You may be able to sue even in Virginia.
What you describe is very little detail, but from what you describe, if it checks out, you could sue for reimbursement. Because it is only $1100 you would probably want to do it yourself by filing a Warrant in Debt in General District Court, because the cost of hiring an attorney would be significant. (Although I have had some people just talk their case over with me for an hour to prepare.)

If what you're referring to was a valid and enforceable contract (not clear that's the case from these facts), you could sue the company for breach of contract in your local small claims court.
