Legal Question in Business Law in Colorado
contract
My friend owes me 5k, which he had promised to repay on 1st September.
On this date, he told me that he could not pay me the sum of 5k, as
he just lost his job.
I was sympathetic with him and told him that I will accept 3k in
full and final settlement of the loan. He paid me the sum of 3k.
In November, I decided to claim the balance 2k from him.
Can I claim the balance 2k from him?

Re: contract
You can try, but I think he would have a good argument that you two made a deal and you agreed not to seek more than the 3K. Is it worth paying a lawyer $250 an hour to fight over $2,000?
