Legal Question in Business Law in Colorado
Freelance work for a company in Litigation
I have a client who runs a business online that is run by two partners. The two partners have decided to break up and are currently in the middle of litigation. The women who is keeping the site informs me that I can work on the site and the women who is losing the site says:
the whole site is legally under dispute and on hold and any involvement YOU have at this point would bring you into the legal fray in the future.
Which one is correct? If I worked on the site could I be pulled into the legal dispute?

Re: Freelance work for a company in Litigation
If the litigation is about ownership and use of the site, your activities will likely be relevant to the suit. As to being "pulled into" the suit, that depends.
If this continues on I would all but guarantee you will have to provide some information or even have to participate in a deposition or at trial.
However, if you are concerned about being somehow liable or a direct party to the suit, I would imagine that would be unlikely. Unfortunately, it is impossible to determine the issue without more information on what you do and what are the claims at issue in the litigation.
You should contact an attorney to discuss the matter. Good luck.
