Is it illegal for a company (car dealership) to garnish an employee's wages for having a car accident with a company car that was insured?

As a Franchise Attorney I can say this. Wages can be garnished only by court order. You should contact your local Employment Development or Labor Department and report what happened. They will investigate and take appropriate action. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
