Legal Question in Business Law in Colorado
liability for business
I am thinking about starting a garage door business and am debating LLC vs. Sole Prop. If I have my customers sign a liability waiver form after I install thier garage door, will that be sufficient to protect my own assets if they decide to sue for whatever reason?

Re: liability for business
A liability waiver should be one of several avenues you explore to protect your personal assets. Since Colorado is one of the least expensive states to form and maintain an entity (LLC, corporation, so on), there is little reason not to get an entity as part of the strategy to limit business liability. You should also consider business insurance.
I would advise that you retain an attorney to advise you on entity selection and contracts. The money you spend at the outset of a business saves you a multiple from problems that may arise down the road. Best of luck.
