Legal Question in Business Law in Colorado
I purchased a business in Colorado and the old owner of the business has talked negatively about my business and my family. The negative talk has caused me financial duress as these people have lived in this town for many years and we are new to the area. I thought I read a law whereby a previous business owner is not allowed to sell a business and then turn around and talk negatively thus causing financial duress on the business. Could you please let me know if there is such a law?

Sorry, but no there is no such law. This should have been part of your written asset purchase agreement.
Depending on the nature of this negative talk and other facts you may have options to sue for damages or other remedies. You need to speak with an attorney to discuss the matter.
