Depending on the issue, you can use trade secret, contract and other intellectual property avenues. It really depends on this "idea" and your goals and plans. There is no way to provide a remotely accurate recommendation without much more information.

Now to the specific advice: Talk to an attorney. For a basic confidentiality and nondisclosure agreement our firm charges a few hundred. It may be more or less with other attorneys.

It is money well spent. I don't care if you use our firm or not-- just see a professional. The big money by attorneys is not made in business advisory services (such as your question), it is in litigation or time spent on trying to fix something that could have been eliminated or mitigated if it was done correctly from the start.
