Legal Question in Business Law in Colorado
Subpoena for documents from past employer
Do you have to get a subpoena to get documents from a past employer? I am looking to get such documents as my offer letter, non-compete clause, non-disclosure clause, and all other documents sign by me. Can they legally force me to get a subpoena or are they just trying to scare me off?

Afternoon:
The employer has no legal obligation to give you access to the personnel files merely becuase you (as employee or ex-employee) request them.
Those documents must be disclosed, however, if you file a suit as they would normally be part of the necessary discovery. Talk to an attorney.
