Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Colorado
Assualt-Fled the state
I was assualted in front of my house by an ex-boyfriend. I went to the hospital, filed a report. He fled to texas. They will not bring him back to CO because it is not a felony, it is a 3rd degree assault-domestic violence. He has a lenthy record of alcohol and violence. Since the incident my jaw has been clicking and I may have it wired shut. Can I press a civil case? Pain and suffering?

Re: Assualt-Fled the state
The facts you posted support a civil action for damages for assault & battery. Such a suit may be brought in CO even though he lives in TX. Whether or not you can recover money from him depends upon his financial situation, homeowner's insurance, and other considerations.
