First you get a very large bucket...

Call the jail or the court to find out the amount of bail and how to post the bond. If you can afford to pay the whole bail, you'll save money, assuming the defendant makes the court appearances (doesn't skip town).

If you can't afford it, you can pay a bail bondsman, usually around 10 percent of the bail amount, and the bondsman will post the bail. However, you lose the money you've paid the bondsman.
