Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Colorado
Defamation of Character
I was engaged to a foster parent. Our relationship had hit a stalemate. This foster mom has two littl girls. One day when a case worker was over visiting she asked how our relationship was doing. We didn't say much, kind of avoided her question because we really didn't know. Since that day, I have been accused of being a pedafile. They said that I ''fit a profile'' Since I am not really interested in the adult relationship and more interested in the kids, I fit a profile of a pedafile. I am not allowed to spend time alone with the children who think of me as dad by the way. I am dad in their eyes! I had to tell my family cuz we would need them to babysit now cuz I can't by myself.
I was evaluated by a psycologist to see if I am safe or not. I guess he has said that I am safe and don't pose a threat to the kids. But they have yet to let me in on this and say that I am now allowed to spend time with the kids. They just avoid the fact that I am safe.
Is this defamation of charater? All the case workers at the county now see me as a possible pedafile, my family had to hear that I was accused of being one. There was not even anything evidense that I did anything wrong, I just fit a profile.

Re: Defamation of Character
It is possible that this is defamation if it is published in some way. That means that the information is given to someone other than those that need to know by law. I would fight this label with everything I have if I were you. The evaluation that you mention is something that you should get a copy of and make sure it says what you think. You are about to see some of the worst parts of government.
