Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Colorado
Possible harassment or discrimination lawsuit
My wife was attempting to enter a public transportation parking garage to take the light-rail to work. There were ''lot full'' signs all over, and when my wife attempted to enter the lot she was told by a security guard that the lot was full and that she could not proceed to check for cars leaving or wait for commuters to leave and that if she proceeded, he would call the police to charge her with tresspassing. As he told her this, a car drove past the security guard with no comment and other cars were leaving the garage as well. My wife left to go home, parked, and walked back to the garage. Upon re-entering the garage, she was accosted by the security guard again, insisting that she tell him how she got back into the garage. When my wife asked for his name, he refused to initially identify himself and only gave a name after asked repeatedly and wore no name identification. When she complained to the light-rail board of directors, no action was taken as of yet -one week ago. Do we have grounds to submit a complaint for treatment or possibly a lawsuit for corrective measures to be taken? My wife said the security guard was very rude and confrontational with her and intimidating.

Re: Possible harassment or discrimination lawsuit
You can make a complaint to the parking authority, but I see no basis on these facts to file a lawsuit. Being rude is not an actionable character trait. Leave him to heaven.
