Can a landlord inform a tenant's employer about issues between themself and tenant? Such as lease and rent issues.

No. This is an attempt to retaliate and is an intereferencewith a contract,--the employment contract. You need to make sure your landlord is distinctly told to stop getting involved in your life,--probably a protective order is in order.
