Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Colorado
No Money for a Lawyer, Complicated Case
I have been charged with Obstructing a Peace Officer, Disorderly Conduct, and Resisting Arrest. I was intoxicated, and was arrested when a police officer saw me hit a person. I had been provocted by this person for over an hour. We do not get a long becuase of this person's permisquity towards my partner. This person made rude, antagonising comments to me for over an hour befor I hit them. Once the police were on the scene, they told everyone to leave the area. I was placed under arrest. Durring this time my memory fades in and out. When released from jail, I had a sprianed wrist from falling with handcuffs on. I was refused medical attention in jail. I also had mutiple large bruises between my legs. I went to the er to have my wrist looked at, I was told multiple times to have a rape kit done. I did. I am not at this time pressing any formal charges against the police department. However, would like to know if the injuries I recived could help me recive a lesser sentance. How can I directly talk to the D.A.? Should I plead No Contest? I dont have any prior alcohole related charges, nor have I been in trouble for anything like this before. Can I use this to my advantage? I do not want to be put on probation, how can I avoid that?

You need a lawyer; apply for a public defender. It won't cost you a thing, and they can help you figure out your situation.
